Bulgaria: Only 5.3 million tonnes of wheat due to unfavorable weather

Bulgaria harvested 5.3 million tonnes of wheat on August 20, 98.3% of the sowing area. Last year, when the country imported a bumper crop, it was 5.7 million tonnes at the same time, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. Unfavorable weather conditions in July were stated as the main reason. In June, it was still hoped for the result of the previous year, but this was not fulfilled due to heavy and prolonged rainfall.
In addition, 500,000 tonnes of barley was harvested on 99.2% of the land (previous year: 619,000 tonnes).
