The rapeseed futures on the Matif/Euronext continued their upward trend yesterday. Likewise, the soy complex on the CBoT went up significantly and the futures closed with up to double-digit gains from trading. The main driving force is the tense weather situation in South America. If nothing changes in the drought in the coming weeks, many analysts expect a significant drop in earnings. The rising oil markets and the political quarrels between the Russians and the Ukraine provided further support. In China, meanwhile, it is reported that the government intends to release more soy from its own stocks in the coming weeks. This should ease the tense supply situation again.
