Egypt has in the first phase of its development project on the establishment of modern wheat stock of the U.S. company Blumberg added grain of on time completed silos with wheat of harvesting new not in operation.
This communication by the plant manufacturer comes at a time in which the world's largest wheat importer has started an investigation into possible fraud and corruption in the procurement of subsidized wheat from local agriculture. The State has purchased wheat "on paper" but not physically receive.
The new modern collection systems could not be during the wheat harvest, because there was no permanent electricity supply. The new grain logistics should be used this year for the first time for ¼ of the local harvest. Egypt's State energy supplier has not, so far, provided the electrical installations.
Currently, the delivery of of the State grain to private consumers cannot be met because they do not have silos adequate loading capacities from the, so government officials. But, this statement is called into question, because the quantities from the domestic harvest wheat will have been extremely high. A Parliamentary Commission of inquiry has been inserted to clarify the inconsistencies. Responsible persons were issued travel bans and frozen funds. Various private silo operators are now under arrest and suspected of corruption.
The new system of Blumberg grain to prevent such manipulations. With electronic scales the adopted weights are recorded and the stock is determined by digital using bar codes. Discrepancies to the current inventory will be reported immediately, and any intervention in the programs are logged.
In the first phase of the project, 93 field silos were equipped with the new technology. By 2018, the entire Egyptian grain harvest with the system to be equipped. But the second phase of the project is now delayed by bureaucracy.
From the last harvest, almost five million tonnes were bought wheat from local farmers at subsidized prices. That would be the second largest crop ever. The average of recent harvests was 3 to 3.5 million tons Groß.
