CBoT corn prices are declining this morning after rising to a seven-month high yesterday. The protectionist trade policy of Donald Trump and the dismissal of his foreign minister Rex Tillerson make traders in the stock market more cautious.
Fears are mounting among market participants that a possible expansion of US tariffs will accelerate following the departure of Tillerson and thus worsen agricultural exports from the US. The policy of Donald Trump obviously leads to a geopolitical instability.
Previously, corn futures benefited from growing demand for US corn. For example, South Korea bought more than one million tonnes of corn last week, most of it in the US.
