The wheat courses at CBoT give way again this morning. It is the fifth of six trading sessions with falling prices. With the corona virus apparently spreading to other countries outside of China, the global economy is feared.
All hopes for an early recovery in the commodity markets have evaporated. The corona virus influences on the wheat market have so far not been large. If the global economy starts to stumble, as is already evident on the stock markets, now that infections in countries like South Korea, Italy and Iran are skyrocketing, then the price of wheat cannot improve.
Weather services in Ukraine expect a good harvest in 2020. Commodity funds bought wheat futures yesterday.
