The CBoT wheat futures are trading somewhat weaker at the moment after rising to a one-month high yesterday. The discussion in the market focuses on the adverse weather conditions in the US, where the cold could lead to earnings losses.
To make matters worse, that it is too dry in the relevant winter wheat regions, which makes the plants prone to Auswinterungen.
The USDA rated the winter wheat stocks in the state of Kansas yesterday only 37% after the close of trading in the top category "good-to-excellent". Kansas produces the largest amount of US hard-red winter wheat. At the end of November, the rating was 51% and 44% a year ago. This makes traders in the stock market thoughtful, even though there are currently high stocks worldwide and there are no concerns about direct market supply.
