In Chicago, the wheat future is trading on a 10-day low this morning. The forecast for much needed rainfall in the US winter wheat regions suggests that yields will be better than expected, despite the recent drought. The front month May-18 loses in the night market at the hour about 1%.
The fall in prices is also a factor in the disappointing demand for US wheat. Last Thursday, the USDA reported that only 188,700 tons of wheat had been exported in the seven days before. That's far less than the market observers expected.
