China and India agree on closer economic relations

China wants to expand its agricultural exports to India while increasing imports of Indian rape seed and soybean meal. This is what President Xi Jinping Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires.
The aim is to increase imports of rice and sugar from India and to increase exports of soybean meal and rape seed to China.
Xi and Modi met for the fourth time at the summit of the 20 heads of government of the world's most important industrial nations and agreed closer economic relations. A border dispute last year should now be settled.
The trade volumes of the two superpowers reached US $ 89.6 billion in 2017/18, with a deficit in favor of China of US $ 62.9 billion.
