China bans pork products from Belgium, Japan and Bulgaria

China banned imports of pigs, wild boars and their products from Belgium after African pig fever (ASF) broke out there. The same goes for Japan. This was announced by the Chinese customs authorities today.
This order follows an equal import ban from Bulgaria.
In China's northeastern province of Liaoning, another outbreak of the highly contagious ASF was reported within a few days.
China is the world's largest pigmine; There was a series of ASF cases reported since the beginning of August. The transport of live pigs and pig products from the affected regions was banned in order to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
The latest ASF case now concerns Belgium, where fever broke out in September. Also Japan is haunted by it.
The Chinese customs authorities report on all importing countries with the official "WeChat" account. All pig products from the mentioned countries are sent back or destroyed.
