The price of grain maize on the Matif increased again yesterday. The November date went up by EUR 0.50 to EUR 32.50/t, the later dates sometimes show higher daily increases. In Europe, many farmers expect significant yield losses for the coming corn harvest. In both France and Germany, plants continue to suffer from a lack of water. In southern Hesse, according to reports, the companies want to start harvesting silo maize as early as the end of August. The corn contracts on the CBoT were also moving north yesterday. The most important factor here is the rating of the condition of the maize plants, which has recently been rated worse again. In addition, news of 130,000 tons of corn being exported to China bolstered CBoT trading. Pre-market, the eCBoT is showing slightly weaker price trends today.
