China confirms fourth outbreak of African swine fever

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture announces the fourth outbreak of highly contagious and deadly swine flu. More than 400 animals on three farms are infected. 340 animals from the city of Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province fell victim to swine fever. Zhejiang is the fourth region affected and farthest from the region where the first outbreak was discovered three weeks ago.
The authorities have already killed more than 20,000 animals to stop the spread. But the great distance between the newly discovered cases and the original outbreak aggravates the situation and raises questions about how to fight the disease.
Wenzhou is 890 km away from Lianyungang, the neighboring province where the third eruption was confirmed at the weekend.
