China imported (Jan-Jun) 2.82 million tons of pork including offal (+ 142.7%)

China imported 400,000 tons of pork in June. That was 128.4% more than in the same month of the previous year. Importers have been into a frenzy for months, trying to compensate for the bottleneck on the domestic market.
China's pork production declined by 20% in the first half of 2020 due to the aftermath of African pig fever, which has been rampant in China since 2018.
China's pork imports have exceeded 400,000 tons per month for four months. This doubled the import volume. Imports from January to June were 142.7% higher than a year ago at 2.12 million tons.
Imports including offal came to 540,000 in June (+ 102.5% on the previous year). By the end of June it will reach 2.82 million tons.
However, imports are expected to decline in the coming months, which is also caused by seamless corona tests of imports. As a result, the containers jam in the port spaces. China has also revoked dozens of slaughterhouses abroad.
