China imported US $ 5.05 billion worth of US agricultural goods in Q1 / 20

In the first three months of 2020, China bought $ 5.05 billion in agricultural commodities in the United States. That was 110% more than in Q1 / 19.
In the first part of a January 15 trade agreement, China pledged to buy $ 32 billion of US agricultural goods over the next two years. The basis for this was the 2017 import volume, when 24 billion US agricultural goods were imported. Accordingly, US agricultural goods worth USD 12.5 billion would have to be imported in 2020 and USD 19.5 billion in 2021.
China bought 7.81 billion US soybeans in Q1 / 20, 210% more than in the same period last year.
US pork shipments in Q1 / 20 were 168,000 tonnes, 640% more than a year ago. The value of the goods was even 17 times higher than in the comparable period in 2019.
US cotton imports to China in Q1 / 20 were 124,000 tonnes (+ 43.5%).
