BEIJING, Apr 4 (Reuters) - China continues to engage in dialogue despite the recent escalation in order to avoid a US trade war. The door for negotiations remains open, Vice-Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen said on Wednesday in Beijing. However, China will continue to fight back if the US government remains on a course of confrontation. China has never given in to outside pressure, Vice Minister of Finance Zhu Guangyao said at a joint press conference. The challenges are huge, but he hopes that trade relations with the US could be put on a sound path again. Because a trade war would hurt both sides. China had previously announced new tariffs on US $ 50 billion in US imports, beating them in the same coin against additional US taxes imposed by the Washington administration on Tuesday. The new Chinese tariffs include soybeans, cars, airplanes, chemicals and agricultural products, as well as whiskey, cigars, and orange juice. The US Customs List for Chinese Imported Goods ranges from chemical products to televisions, vehicles and electronic components. The US accuses China of dumping prices and other unfair trading practices as well as theft of intellectual property. China rejects this.
