China's July millet and corn imports plummeted more than 60%

China's grain imports fell sharply in July after Beijing raised tariffs on US agricultural commodities as a result of the trade dispute. This is evident today from the figures of the local customs authorities.
Accordingly, China buys 220,000 tons of sorghum in July (-62.5% as of July 2017). It was also less than in June when 450,000 tons of US sorghum were imported. China buys almost all its sorghum (millet) needs in the US.
In addition, China bought only 330,000 tonnes of corn abroad in July (-63.7% yoy). In July, 140,000 tons of wheat and 600,000 barley were imported from China.
