China's soybean imports from the US tripled in October

China's October soybean imports tripled year over year. This is shown today by the figures from the Chinese customs authorities. The deliveries of the phase 1 trade agreement, which are now arriving in China, have an impact.
According to the figures from the customs authorities, China bought 3.4 million tons of soybeans in the US in October. That is an increase of 196.4% over the previous year.
Although the phase 1 trade agreement was concluded in January 2020, the large quantities of agricultural commodities are only now arriving in China. In September, 1.17 million tons of US soybeans arrived and in October 3.4 million tons.
Meanwhile, the arrivals from South America dropped dramatically, so that the new harvest in the USA dominated imports from China.
