The worst cold in the US seems to be over now. Now market participants have to deal with the consequences, said a spokesman for the Agrometeorological Institute.
On the upper Mississippi River, ice drift still hinders shipping in the coming days. Freight rates are already rising for the second day in a row. Preliminary shipments towards the Gulf Coast are currently using the silos where the river was not frozen. There, however, the goods are now scarce, because from the hinterland comes to little supply.
A spokesperson for the CBoT emphasizes that authorized delivery points can be used to handle futures on soybeans. Currently the January 18-ZSF8 is in the liquidation.
