In the week that is now coming to an end, the corn export price in Ukraine has fallen as international demand is weakening. The production of biofuels is expected to decrease. This reports the consulting firm APK-Inform in Kiev this morning.
Ukrainian export corn bids fell to $ 172-176 / tonne fob Black Sea port on April 23. Last week, $ 178-183 / ton was offered.
In its WASDE report, the USDA had raised the estimate of the world's final corn crop, and farmers in Ukraine and the United States also plan to expand their corn crop this year. A very good maize harvest is also currently being carried out in Argentina and Brazil.
Ukraine harvested almost 36 million tons of corn in 2019. APK estimates that 28.5 million tons will be exported in the 2019/20 season. 25.2 million tons have already been exported, 2.7 million tons more than in the same period of the previous season.
The Minister of Economy in Ukraine estimates the maize area in his country this year at 5.4 million hectares (previous year: 5 million hectares). By April 17, 1 million hectares had already been cultivated.
