Primarily, the corn contracts on the Euronext/Matif in Paris on yesterday's trading day follow the guidelines for wheat. The front month lost EUR 3.50 per tonne and closed the second trading day of the new year at EUR 292.50 per tonne. The news situation in Europe itself is relatively thin compared to the corn market, the cash markets are running smoothly. As with wheat, concerns about the economy and the stronger currency are putting pressure on trading on the CBoT. In addition, weekly export shipments in the week between Christmas and New Year were sluggish. The USDA inspected 667,010 tons, compared to 922,142 tons the week before. The expectations of the analysts were thus met on average and thus limited the price decline a little. Pre-market, the eCBoT does not yet show a uniform direction. While the two front dates are slightly in the green area, the other contracts are slightly red.
