Corn on the Euronext/Matif went up yesterday. The November contract in Paris increased by 8.50 euros/t. As with wheat, statements by Russian President Putin on the grain agreements with the UN and Ukraine provided a boost. Because of Putin's statements, the prospects for the continuation of Ukrainian sea transport are on thin ice. Things looked different at the CBoT yesterday. The contracts lost between 4 and 7 US cents/bu here. Profit-taking and weak guidance from the soybean market drove prices lower in late trade. The fall in commodity prices also weighed on price expectations for corn. Premarket corn contracts on the eCBoT are off to a light start today.
