For the second day in a row, corn rose on Euronext/Matif. The June contract climbed EUR 2.25 from EUR 262.50 to a new closing price of EUR 264.75 per ton. A similar picture emerges for follow-on contracts. However, the dates of the next harvest are still rated lower than the dates of the current harvest. By March 12, a total of 18.98 million tons of corn had been imported into the EU countries. The previous year's volume is exceeded by 7.15 million tons (+ 60.4%). Ukraine continues to be Europe's most important supplier and has already supplied more corn than in the entire previous marketing year. Volumes from Brazil also increased significantly. Corn also went north at the CBoT. In addition to positive indications from wheat, an export booking of 612,000 tons by buyers from China caused a stir. This is the largest single booking of the current season so far. In the southern US states, farmers have started sowing corn. The machines are making good progress, especially in Texas and Louisiana. Pre-market, corn prices in Chicago are again showing rising tendencies today.
