COT Report (Commitments of Traders)

Institutional investors increased in the week from 20.11. - 27.11. The holdings of long positions in SRW wheat increased by 2,556 contracts to 81,948 contracts, but at the same time increased the holdings of short positions by 3,321 contracts to 120,561 contracts. The share of net short positions thus increased by 765 contracts to 38,613 contracts. The investor group of "institutional investors" thus continues to be predominantly bearish. This emerges from the weekly COT report from the US Department of Agriculture, published Friday after the close in Chicago. In corn, long positions were increased by 2,081 contracts to 221,361 lots, but short positions were also increased by 16,384 contracts to 243,509 lots. As a result, this investor group strongly expanded its portfolio of net short positions to 22,148 lots.
The share of net short positions in soybeans increased by 3,616 lots to 63,862 contracts.
Since the report is always published with a delay of nearly one week by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission), any changes after November 27th will not be included in this update. For this reason, our news ticker daily publishes the estimates of the "Institutional Investor" position changes. However, the daily estimates do not take options into account.
