COT report (Commitments of Traders)

Institutional investors increased the SRW wheat net long position from the previous week (27,270 contracts) to 27,687 net long positions in the week ending January 7, 2020. The investor group of "institutional investors", which includes banks, insurance companies, fund companies, etc., is thus still predominantly bullish on wheat. This is according to the COT report of the US Department of Agriculture, which was published on Friday after the close of trading in Chicago.
In corn, the number of net short positions was reduced by 1,569 contracts to 80,887 net short positions.
In addition, "institutional investors" turned the net short position in soybeans (-3,159) to 1,159 net long positions.
As the report is always published by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) with a delay of almost a week, all changes after January 7 are not included in this update. For this reason, we publish daily estimates of changes in the positions of "institutional investors" in our news ticker. However, options are not included in the daily estimates!
