COT report (Commitments of Traders)

Institutional investors turned the SRW wheat net long holdings from the previous week (2,982 contracts) to 16,476 net short contracts in the week ending May 19, 20. The investor group of "institutional investors", which includes banks, insurance companies, fund companies, etc., is again largely bearish in wheat. This comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's COT report, which was released in Chicago on Friday after the close of trading.
For corn, the portfolio of net short positions was increased by 31,332 contracts to 245,386 contracts.
In addition, "institutional investors" reduced the net long holdings of soybeans from 32,465 to 12,064 net long positions.
Since the report is always published by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) with a delay of almost a week, all changes after May 19 are not taken into account in this update. For this reason, we publish the estimates of the position changes for "institutional investors" in our news ticker. However, options are not taken into account in the daily estimates!
