Institutional investors increased the SRW wheat net short holdings from the previous week (12,204 contracts) to 13,472 net short contracts in the week ending June 2, 20. The investor group of "institutional investors", which includes banks, insurance companies, fund companies, etc., remains largely bearish in wheat. This comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's COT report, which was released in Chicago on Friday after the close of trading.
For corn, the portfolio of net short positions was increased by 6,063 contracts to 282,266 contracts.
In addition, "institutional investors" increased net long holdings of soybeans from 5,813 to 6,637 net long positions.
As the report is always published by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) with a delay of almost a week, all changes after June 2nd are not taken into account in this update. For this reason, we publish the estimates of the position changes for "institutional investors" in our news ticker. However, options are not considered in the daily estimates!
