Institutional investors reduced the SRW wheat net long position from the previous week (24,742 contracts) to 19,149 net long positions in the week to 24.12.19. However, the investor group of "institutional investors", which includes banks, insurance companies, fund companies, etc., remains predominantly bullish on wheat. This is evident from the COT report of the US Department of Agriculture, which was published on Tuesday after the close of trading in Chicago.
Net short positions in corn were reduced by 9,931 contracts to 84,906 net short positions.
In addition, "institutional investors" reduced the net short position in soybeans by 46,119 contracts to 33,156 net short positions.
As the report is always published by the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) with a delay of almost a week, all changes after December 24 are not included in this update. For this reason, we publish daily estimates of changes in the positions of "institutional investors" in our news ticker. However, options are not included in the daily estimates!
