Crop scouts find better than expected corn yields in Ohio and Dakota

CBoT corn futures prices are down for the second day in a row this morning. On a field tour in the American Midwest, the “Crop Scouts” find better yields than would have been expected after the extreme weather at the beginning of last week.
The US states Ohio and Dakota were only partially affected by the storm. In the states of Nebraska and Indiana, too, the corn and soybean fields still have good yield potential when it finally rains there.
After the weather phenomenon Derecho on Monday of last week, the stock market prices for corn rose to a monthly high. Yesterday US President Donald Trump even visited the region to inspect the damage. The farmers affected are to be compensated from an emergency fund.
