Crop tour in Illinois finds significantly higher corn and soy yields

In the US state of Illinois, corn yields will be 6.6% higher than in the previous year. This is the result of a 4-day field tour.
Yields of 192.6 bushels per acre (bpa) are expected, only in Iowa, the top growing region for corn in the US, there are even better yields.
Thus, the earnings expectations are above the actual yields of 180.7 bpa in the last year and the three-year average of 182 bpa. However, on 10th August the USDA had estimated much higher corn yields with 207 bpa.
The experts on the tour do not give a forecast on soybean yields. It only counts the number of pods with 1,328.9 pods on a standard area of 3x3 square-foot above the 1,230.8 in the previous year. The 3-year average is 1,246.4 pods.
