Corn prices on both sides of the Atlantic fell yesterday. In Paris, the leading November contract lost EUR 2.00 per ton and closed at EUR 318.25. The first areas of grain maize are being threshed in southern Germany. In the Baden region, a disappointing 3.0 - 4.5 t per hectare come from the fields. The stocks are brought in relatively dry with a moisture content of 15 - 17.5 percent. In southern Hesse and the southern Palatinate, yields of between 3 and 6 tons per hectare are reported, and 8 t/ha are still achieved on irrigated areas. In the southwest, the first batches are being traded at prices between 325 and 330 euros per ton. In the USA, the main harvest is also imminent and, together with the generally weak market environment, is causing prices to fall. Brazil's corn exports reached 7.55 million tons in August, slightly below market expectations. Pre-market, the CBoT is showing a slight price recovery today.
