Washington appears to be considering suspending Hong Kong's preferred customs status, Reuters reported, citing insiders. Should the government in Washington take this step, the same surcharges would apply to exports from Hong Kong to the USA as to exports from mainland China, which US President Donald Trump has imposed with severe punitive tariffs. The United States' deliberations are triggered by China's push for a new security law in Hong Kong.
