The German wheat harvest will drop by 1.2% year-on-year to 22.79 million tons, according to the German Raiffeisen Association in its first harvest estimate published on Friday.
The main reason is a reduction in wheat acreage by 6.1% compared to the previous year to 2.9 million hectares.
The association predicts that the German winter rapeseed harvest will increase by 21.9% to 3.44 million tonnes compared to last year's particularly poor harvest.
German stocks are generally developing well after the warm winter, but repeated rain in the past few weeks is delaying the sowing of summer cereals, the association says.
