The market for processed potatoes in Western and Central Europe has been lacking momentum for a few weeks. The frit factories are well supplied with contract potatoes for the time being, and buyers abroad first use the domestic harvest. Buyers in Eastern Europe continue to signal interest in the West for later deliveries, but they are very price-sensitive. The supply from agriculture comes constantly, so that a small oversupply has built up.
The market pointer of the EEX derivatives exchange in Leipzig was calculated at 15.1 today, 20 cents less than in the three weeks before. The main reason for the decline was the quotes from Holland (€ 16.21 / dt - 0.32) and France (€ 14.80 / dt - 0.25), which fell 30 and 20 cents / 100 kg respectively.
