Egypt's supply Minister Khaled Hanafi yesterday compared to the press, announced that it acquired already five million tons of wheat since mid-April from local suppliers. So the farmer get 420 Egyptian pounds ($55) for an ardeb (ca. 150 kg). For the intervention program, the Government in the budget will provide 10 billion Egyptian pounds ($1.3 billion).
The Minister leads back the success in obtaining wheat from local production on the new "smart card" system, with the subsidized bread to the population is distributed. The farmers are now less inclined to restrain harvesting your own self. The old system worked for the Greyhound procedure. Who came first was supplied first.
