The Government in Egypt has so far bought 4,711 million tons of wheat from this year's crop of local grain. So far exceeded the original target of 4 million tons. Now, it wants to continue the subsidised purchases until mid-June.
The wheat will be paid this year, with 420 Egyptian pounds per ardeb (150 kg). So, you want to keep the crops attractive for local farmers.
In the year 2015, 5.3 million tons of wheat were involved with this system as a whole, there were only 3.7 million tons in 2014.
