EU Commission updates grain export forecast

The EU Commission has reduced its monthly forecast of usable common wheat production in the marketing year 2020/21 in the EU-27 countries by 100,000 tons compared to the previous month from 115.9 million tons to 115.8 million tons.
In the supply and demand forecasts published on its website, the Commission has kept its monthly forecast for EU-27 common wheat exports for the 2020/21 season starting in July unchanged at 24.0 million tonnes.
The EU executive also left its estimate of usable corn production unchanged at 60.2 million tonnes, but cut forecast corn imports from 22 million tonnes last month to 21 million tonnes.
The forecasted barley production of the EU-27 in the reporting period was reduced slightly to 54.2 million tonnes, compared to 54.3 million tonnes at the end of October.
For rapeseed, the Commission kept its estimate of usable production in 2020/21 at the 15.9 million tonnes forecast last month.
