EU crop monitor lowers forecast of the corn yields

The crop-monitoring service of the European Union, MARS, has reduced the earnings forecast for corn in the European Union of 6.84 tonnes per hectare (September) 6.82 tons per hectare. This is the third reduction in a row. Thus, yields were 1.6% lower than the 5-jährigem average and slightly above the result of the previous year (6.31 tonnes per hectare), as the corn stocks in parts of the EU also under drought suffered.
The prediction of average soft wheat yields was also slightly reduced of 5.63 tonnes per hectare on 5,62Tonnen per hectare. That would be a decrease of 3.6% for the 5-year average.
The prognosis of rapeseed yields was slightly increased. You is now 3.21 tons per hectare versus 3.20 tons per hectare in September. Compared to the 5-year average, that would be an increase of 0.4%.
