EU expects full data from January after French breakdown
Weekly figures on the European Union's exports and imports of grain and oilseed products should be available from early January after a technical problem led to incomplete data for France in recent months, an EU official said.
The missing numbers, linked to a database problem at French customs, frustrated traders as the European market saw strong demand and record prices for wheat at the beginning of the 2021/22 season.
France is the largest grain producer and exporter in the EU.
After French customs identified the source of the error, work to restore the missing numbers will be completed later this month and allow the full weekly EU data to be released from early January, the official said.
The European Commission postponed the publication of this week's EU grain export and import data from yesterday to today due to a separate technical issue.
