The European Union has granted licenses to import 214,180 tons of Ukrainian corn. As a result, the remaining volume within an annual duty-free quota was completely used up, as official data from the European Commission showed.
As part of this year's EU quotas, importers were able to import 1.25 million tons of Ukrainian corn.
This month, demand for duty-free Ukrainian corn rose sharply.
The EU uses a formula to trigger tariffs when the cost of imported US corn falls below an EU regulatory floor. EU corn tariffs are currently set at zero.
