By March 6th, 2022, the EU had imported 11.47 million tons of maize. Of this, 6.23 million tons come from the Ukraine. This means that over half of all imports come from Ukraine. At the same time last year, 11.35 million tons were exported, of which 4.45 million tons came from Ukraine. Meanwhile, shipments on the Black Sea have come to a standstill due to the political situation. Nevertheless, Ukraine expects that export permits can be issued again in the course of the year. However, many retailers are very skeptical about this. The USDA cut the export forecast for the country to 27.5 million tons (-6 million tons).
