EU rapeseed harvest was 16.79 million tons below the previous year's result

The consulting firm Strategy Grains today raised its forecast for the EU rapeseed harvest in 2020 to 16.79 million tons.
This breaks the series of six consecutive cuts in monthly forecasts. However, the expected rapeseed harvest in the EU + GB is still below the 17.12 million tonnes harvested last year. The rapeseed crop disappointed this year in the countries GB and F as well as in the central and eastern EU.
The reason for this is the very dry spring in parts of Europe.
Now, according to the consulting firm, huge amounts of rapeseed have to be imported into the community in the 2020/21 season. If the experts assumed 6.2 million tons in the previous month, the experts now estimate the import requirement at 6.1 million tons. In the previous season, 6 million tons of rapeseed were imported here. That was the previous record.
