European traders reported today that they had 303,000 tonnes of common wheat exports for the week ending May 1, 18. Soft wheat exports thus increase to 16.65 million tonnes in the current marketing year 2017/18. Compared to the previous year, this is a decrease of 22%. Together with wheat flour, durum and durum meal, exports totaled 18.17 million tonnes versus 23.47 million tonnes at the same time in the 2016/17 marketing period. Barley exports totaled 4.8 million tons as of May 1, an increase of + 5% over the previous year. Maize has so far been imported in a total volume of 14.3 million tons. One year ago, it was around 9.80 million tons (+ 46%).
