Institutional investors reduced their holdings of net short futures and options positions on Euronext wheat last week. This is shown by the report published by Euronext for the second time yesterday.
The group of non-commercial participants, ie mutual funds, banks, insurance companies and the like, is currently still net short. This means that the majority of decision-makers in this group are still betting on falling prices for the most part, but reduced the share of net short positions last week from 24,976 lots to 22,401.
The "Commercial Participants" group, including the hedgers, increased the share of net long positions from 27,970 lots to 32,201 lots. This group has a share of 64.3% of the open contract portfolio (previous week: 66.7%). By contrast, the proportion of "non-commercial partici- pants" holds a significantly smaller share of the open contract portfolio of 16.2% (previous week: 15.5%). At the CBoT, the proportion of non-commercial participants is significantly higher at around 45%
It should also be mentioned that only 80.5% of the open contract portfolio of Euronext wheat is taken into account and documented (previous week: 82.2%). AroundTo view the original reports, please select the link of the corresponding category: Wheat Corn Rapeseed
