Euronext: Institutional investors are again net long for wheat

Euronext: Institutional investors are again predominantly bullish on wheat.
The portfolio of 5,412 net short positions on futures and options from the previous week was turned to 7,495 net long positions in the week ending July 10. This is shown in the COT report published today by Euronext. Investment funds, banks and insurance companies belong to the group of “non-commercial participants”.
The group of “commercial participants”, including hedgers, changed their holdings of net long positions as of July 10 from 8,626 to 6,359 net short contracts.
Commercial participants hold 64.5% of the total short positions and 65% of the total long positions.
Non-commercial participants hold 21.9% of the total short positions and 24.1% of the total long positions.
The report includes 86.4% of the open short positions and 89.1% of the open long positions of the wheat futures.
In rapeseed, non-commercial participants increased the proportion of rapeseed futures and options from 9,907 net short contracts to 13,999 net long contracts.
Commercial participants increased their share of net short positions from 18,074 to 22,233 contracts.
