Euronext: Institutional investors reduced net short wheat stocks

Institutional investors reduced their holdings from 24,346 net short positions on futures and options as of August 21 for the week ended August 14 to 13,614 net short positions. This means that the majority of investors in this group remain bearish. This is shown by the COT report published today by Euronext. The group of "non-commercial participants" includes investment funds, banks and insurance companies.
The group of "Commercial Participants", including hedgers, reduced its portfolio from 10,989 net long positions to 9,363 contracts. Commercial participants hold 58.6% of the total short positions and 62.1% of the total long positions.
Non-commercial participants hold 29.4% of the total short positions and 26.5% of the total long positions.
The report accounts for 88.0% of the open short positions and 88.6% of the open long positions in wheat futures.
In the case of rapeseed, non-commercial participants turned the number of rapeseed futures and options from 1,193 net short contracts to 1,278 net long contracts.
Commercial participants reduced their share of net short positions from 7,318 to 10,387 contracts.
