Expensive Fritten raw material: From now on only new harvest

The processing of fry potatoes from the 2017 harvest is now obviously in its final stages. From now on, the factories are mainly using the new harvest and buying contract potatoes. In addition, fry producers in Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands are looking for a contract-free raw material in view of the continuing heat and drought. They will find it in the food sector, where dual-use varieties are available. In this way, new potato stocks are being demolished in Germany, which have resulted from the heat-related weak consumer demand. Peelers already pay up to 20.00 € / dt. This is also the price paid in Holland for rough goods (40mm +). Longer-term agreements are no longer an issue among potato farmers. In contrast, the producers are concerned about the fulfillment of the contract. With harvest losses of at least 25%, it will be difficult for one farmer or another to get his contract potatoes at all.
