The corn prices on the Euronext/Matif decoupled from the specifications for wheat on Friday and were able to increase accordingly. The front month of March 23 rose by EUR 0.50 to EUR 290.50 per tonne. With the start of trading on Monday, however, corn has already given up Friday's profit again. However, corn lost significantly throughout the first week of trading in the new year. On January 2, 296 euros were traded for the front month, on Friday it was 5.50 euros less per tonne at the closing bell. Corn also won at the CBoT. An export report from the USDA about the purchase of 100,000 tons of corn from Mexico boosted the market development. At 320,000 tons, the published weekly export figures were also significantly better than wheat export sales and were therefore able to support the corn market overall.
