FAO index falls in May to 1.4%

World prices for food slipped in May to 1.4% to the lowest level since September 2009 that declining prices for cereals, milk and meat products were basic. Slightly increased the prices for oil and sugar. In May the food index identified by the FAO was 166.8 points, a drop of 2.4 points compared to the previous month. Compared to the previous year, the decline is even at 46 points and 22.4%, respectively.
FAO increased the forecast for the world wheat crop by 2015/16 on 2.524 million tonnes (previous forecast: 2,509 million tonnes). The forecast of world wheat production by 2015/16 amounts to 723,4 million tonnes (previous forecast: 719,1 tonnes).
