Thanks to the recent moderate, favorable rainfall throughout the pampas with largely stable temperature conditions, Argentine wheat production will increase by 1% to 19.9 [18.1–21.6] million tons in 2021/22.
The fields in most of the key regions go through the critical stages of development without major problems. In some of the northern production regions, the harvest has started earlier than usual. The favorable conditions at the end of the growing season are expected to last until next week.
In yesterday's WASDE, the USDA estimated Argentina's wheat production at 20.0 million tons, unchanged from the last update.
Bolsa de Comercio in Rosario and Bolsa de Cereales in Buenos Aires estimate 20.7 and 19.8 million tons respectively. This current estimate takes into account a planted area of 6.8 million hectares, 1.4% more than last season. This is broadly in line with 6.6 and 6.9 million hectares reported by Bolsa de Cereales in Buenos Aires and Bolsa de Comercio in Rosario, respectively.
