The chips factories in the Netherlands are reacting with caution to the high number of corona infections and the recent restrictions on freedom of movement. They currently hardly process any free fries raw material, but meticulously adhere to their purchase obligations. Nevertheless, there is a lot going on on the free market, because the packing stations and exporters should have full order books. But one complains about tight profit margins. The fear of a lockdown changes both supplier and consumer behavior. A larger free supply of raw materials currently serves a better export demand and consumers buy their frozen fries in food retailers when the restaurants are closed. It must be doubted that the potato market will be disrupted by the pandemic in the next few months as much as last year.
