France: FranceAgriMer lowers forecast of corn production

The French agricultural consultancy FranceAgriMer has lowered 11,45 million tonnes 2016/17 to 350,000 tons its forecast of the French production of corn. This would be the corn production to a 26-year low. At the same time, the prognosis of closing stock increased 2016/17 to 500,000 tons to 2.5 million tons due to higher imports and weaker demand. That would offset the smaller crop already.
Also the forecast of the French Weichweizenendbestände of the period 2016/17 increased to 2.7 million tons from 2.5 million tons. FranceAgriMer reduced to 200,000 metric tons of soft wheat exports to countries within the EU to 6.1 million tonnes. The forecast remained unchanged at 4.7 million tons for exports outside the EU.
